Affiliate Disclaimer
The Wine Guide participates in affiliate programmes. This page explains what that means and how it affects the content you read.
What is an affiliate link?
Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission from the retailer. The price you pay is exactly the same whether or not you use an affiliate link — commissions are paid by the retailer, not added to your purchase.
Which programmes does this site participate in?
Amazon Associates
The Wine Guide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and its regional equivalents (including Amazon.com.au, Amazon.co.uk, etc.).
wine.com
This site also participates in the wine.com affiliate programme. Some wine recommendations link directly to product pages on wine.com. If you purchase through one of these links, I may receive a commission.
Does this influence recommendations?
No. Affiliate relationships do not influence which wines I recommend or how I write about them. I recommend wines I genuinely believe are worth buying. A wine I dislike will not appear here simply because it pays a higher commission — that would defeat the entire purpose of this site.
Occasionally a wine I want to recommend is not available on an affiliate platform. In those cases I still include it because the recommendation matters more than the commission.
FTC and ASA disclosure compliance
In accordance with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines and the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) rules on disclosure, I am required to clearly disclose any material connection between this site and the products or services recommended. Affiliate links represent such a connection. This disclaimer serves as that disclosure.
Where individual articles contain affiliate links, they are marked with a disclosure notice at the top of the page.
GDPR and cookies
When you click an affiliate link, the destination site (Amazon or wine.com) may set cookies on your device to track the referral. I have no control over how those sites use cookies. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details:
